"I'd like to take the time to give a heartfelt recommendation, to anyone considering taking lessons and working with Teri on your relationship with your dog. We came to Teri with a re-homed 2 year old that had never really been socialized - not with people, not with dogs. She didn't know how to walk with you, and was basically a high anxiety mess!
We started with "Well Mannered Dog I" - Learning not only how she felt but how I could help her through so many of her issues - Together with Teri's guidance and lots of "homework" we started to understand each other better, what was expected, what was given and especially what to wait on expecting... We then came back for "Well Mannered Dog II" and the Canine Good Citizen Certification.
My goal from day one was to hopefully end up with a Therapy Dog, to "make others' days better"- We have now completed Teri's "K9to5 Therapy Dog Class" and are officially certified! I looked in to Therapy Dog International, but liked the way that Teri works with both dog and handler as a team - because that is how we are sent out to do our jobs; as a team... The therapy class is extensive and needs to be, so you can handle whatever comes up in an unpredictable world. Your Well Mannered Dog I classes were exactly what my pup litter mates needed as immediate followup to the Surviving Puppyhood course. The class size is small so each student receives highly individualized attention. Teri uses positive reinforcement techniques intertwined with her knowledge of behavior characteristics. She brain stormed individual solutions that each dog needed and so we all learned from each others experiences. The flexible class times allows anyone the opportunity to fit the classes into their busy schedules. This also allowed my pups to be exposed to a variety of dogs of all ages / sizes to practice their socialization skills and manners! The 3 levels of class content kept it simple and organized so I could reinforce behaviors at home. I highly recommend this class for all dogs of all ages! It is so much fun !
