Tails on Trails
This  intermediate course is designed to teach you and your dogs the skills needed to make hiking a fun and safe activity.  The first week will be held at our facility, is mandatory for participation, as we will be focusing on skill review, new skills and preparation for the trails. Weeks 2-4 will be on location at local Grand Valley trails.   Watch the video above for more info!

This course is $300 for all 4 weeks.

This course is appropriate for dogs who:

  • Have taken Basic Angels Fun-bedience course
  • Are over the age of 1 year (as suggested by veterinarians due to growth plates and potential musclar/skeleton stress on long hikes)
  • Can easily focus on their owners and take food when out in new spaces.
  • Are up to date on their Distemper/Parvo, Rabies and Bordetella vaccines (ask your veterinarian if the Leptospirosis vaccine might be recommended)

This course is appropriate for owners who:

  • ​Feel comfortable walking on a variety of surfaces (slick or loose rock) with some inclines while carrying their water and any supplies.
  • ​Are able to help their dogs over obstacles or surfaces if their dogs are hesitant
  • Can endure a 2 hour hike that will include several breaks along the way for water and food intake. Trails will include Holy Cross Trail on Little Park Road, Snooks Bottom in Fruita near Kingsview and the Palisade Rim Trail in Palisade
